Senior test Automation Engineer

For this Test Automator role, looking for a strong, code-driven automation expert (Hands-on test automation) with deep expertise in designing and developing modern test automation frameworks, as well as solid experience in backend testing, asynchronous systems, and CI/CD-driven testing practices. Role with an IT solutions and digital transformation company headquartered in Belgium. Location: Antwerp – BE (Partial work from Home). Language: English plus Dutch or French. Duration: 6 months with the option of extension until 2028. Responsibilities: Designing, setting up, and maintaining automated tests for backend processes; Testing APIs, integrations, and event-driven flows; Validating asynchronous communication between systems; Developing BDD scenarios (Gherkin) and implementing them via automation frameworks; Integrating tests into the CI/CD pipeline; Analyzing and debugging complex errors in distributed systems; Working with developers, analysts, and architects; Contributing to test strategy and quality improvement. Must-have: Minimum 8 years of experience; Strong backend testing; Experience with queuing systems/messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS or similar); Thorough knowledge of asynchronous architectures; Java as primary language for test automation; Experience with automation frameworks (e.g., JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber); Practical experience with CI/CD (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab); Experience with BDD/Gherkin; Experience within a Java context.
